Salary Hike Calculator — Two Modes

Use this calculator in two ways:

  • Mode 1 — Find new salary: Enter your current salary and the hike percentage offered. The calculator shows your new salary, annual increment amount, and new monthly take-home.
  • Mode 2 — Find hike percentage: Enter your current and new salary (from a job offer or appraisal letter). The calculator tells you the exact hike percentage and monthly gain.

Works for both annual CTC and monthly salary — just be consistent (don't mix annual and monthly figures).

Salary Hike vs Inflation — Are You Really Earning More?

India's CPI inflation has averaged 5–6% per year in recent years. If your annual salary hike is less than the inflation rate, your real purchasing power is declining — you are getting a pay cut in real terms, even if your CTC number goes up.

A 10% hike with 6% inflation = 4% real increase. A 6% hike with 6% inflation = 0% real increase (same purchasing power). Always evaluate your hike against the current inflation rate, not just the absolute percentage.

Salary Negotiation Tips — How to Ask for a Better Hike

✨

Start with data

Research market salaries for your role, experience, and city (Glassdoor, AmbitionBox, LinkedIn Salary). Know your market value before the conversation.

šŸ‡®šŸ‡³

Don't reveal your current salary first

In India, you are not legally required to disclose your salary. State your expected salary based on market rate.

āœ…

Use competing offers

A written offer from another company is the strongest negotiation lever. Use it professionally — never bluff.

✨

Total compensation matters

If CTC hike is low, negotiate variable pay, ESOPs, WFH flexibility, or title change.

ā±ļø

Time your ask

Post-successful project delivery, after you've been recognised, or during annual appraisal cycles (not random months).
